Decorate That Playroom

A play room is a little one's sanctuary. As a lot of you know I have 3 little boys who love to play! It is important to me to give them a space to have a whole lot of fun, nurture their imaginations, but also developmentally appropriate. So this is what I came up with...
Here it is as you walk in. I will be sure to tell you where everything is from.

We used an oil pan (purchased at Walmart at a great price) and some magnets to practice number and letter recognition and beginning phonics. The car rug is from Ikea. (though this is an older version no longer carried. I linked a similar rug)

These wall baskets from Ikea. Though they no longer carry the rocket, I linked similar baskets.

Our toy storage is also from Ikea. You know, the place the toys never are. My boys prefer their toys scattered throughout the house. Nevertheless, this is where toys are supposed to be.

I am also a thrift mama. I pride myself in finding hidden gems to buy second hand for a lot less. I found this tool bench on Ebay. Remember to check craigslist.com and your local thrift shop when looking for big items like these to save you some money!

And lastly, our focal point. To say my boys are rambunctious would be an understatement! So I created a place for them to have some quite time, where they can sit down, relax, and read a book. The book shelves (which are actually spice racks) and canopy are from Ikea. I hand painted the letters. Though I am no artist. If I could do it again, I would order from Bugaboo Bear Designs. I made the pillows with Dr. Seuss fabric from Stitch Stash Diva (my favorite fabric supplier ever!).

And there it is. What do you think?
