Friday Feature- Rustic Romance Crafts {Sale}

Hello and happy Friday. Today's feature has been on my shopping list for far too long! Rustic Romance Crafts makes beautiful decor pieces. The kind of beauty that makes me wish I could go back and re-do my wedding in all of her products! They are pure gorgeous. I hope you enjoy getting to know Kristen and her shop. And please check out her shop!

1. Tell us a bit about yourself and your background.
My name is Kristen and I am a wife and stay at home mom of two boys. I have always loved to make things with my hands. I can remember in elementary school, I was always excited when we got to draw or do art projects. You would often find me in my room drawing, coloring or making cards for my family. Being creative is just something I need. It's awesome stress outlet.

2. Tell us about your business.
I own and run Rustic Romance Crafts. I make burlap home decor items such as banners and wreaths, as well as seasonal items, such as bunnies for Easter and pumpkins for Fall. The whole idea behind using burlap is that I love the contrast between something as raw and rustic as burlap and turning into something elegant like a wreath or banner. It is such a versatile material and I love to find new ways to use it!

3. When and why did you start your business?
My New Year's resolution for 2013 was to make more time to be creative and actually execute one of the many pins on my "Craft Ideas" Pinterest board. I went to the craft store with an idea in mind when I stumbled across a burlap banner for sale. It was cute so I threw it into my cart and continued on my way. The more I looked at it, the more I thought, "I can make that and customize it the way I want it." So I bought some burlap and made myself a Valentine's Day banner. I had a ton of material left over so my husband suggested I make some more and post them on our local Facebook resale groups. I never thought they would sell but to my surprise, they did! I decided to create a Facebook page just for my banners and continued to sell mostly through my page and the local resale groups. On the 1 year anniversary of starting my business on Facebook, I decided to expand and open a Storenvy shop. In addition to opening my shop, I got the opportunity to sell some of my items at The Painted Shutter & Co, a local vintage shop in my town. So far, my experience has been amazing and I am looking forward to what the future holds for my business.

4. What inspires you?
I find inspiration everywhere. Sometimes it is in the craft store or in a magazine. Sometimes it happens in the middle of the night! I recently took a painting workshop at a local vintage store and now I am creating new products with the techniques I learned from that class. I think it is important to learn new things and push your creative comfort zone. I really try and do that with my crafts.

Friday Feature- EkayG {Sale}

Today's feature is the very talented Erin from EkayG! As a mom of 4 boys, I am in love with her car rugs! They are so unique and completely awesome. I hope you enjoy getting to know Erin and enjoy the coupon code she generously offered.

1. Tell us a bit about yourself and your background.
I'm Erin, the crocheting nerd behind EkayG, but I wasn't always the hookin' fool I am today. :) I was a tom boy to the fullest extent, and played basketball competitively from age 5 through college. I played college basketball at The University at Buffalo a little over 10 years ago, but suffered an injury which suddenly ended my career. To fill a void and keep my hands and mind busy, I took to crochet, a craft I had only seen previously in my grandmother's hands. It was a strange and unlikely transition, but I fell in love! I am now married, and have three young children. I'm embarking on the journey of homeschooling, and as a cooking, cleaning, crocheting, stay at home mom, my tom boy days are well behind me, though I can still be found, quite often, in my UB sweats. ;-)

2. Tell us about your business. What do you make? What are you all about?
I make a variety of things from children's toys and accessories to adult fashions and accessories. I take on a lot of unique custom orders from scarves, cowls, and hats, to children's toys and baby blankets. I mostly crochet, but like to incorporate some sewing as well. My biggest sellers, and the most fun products to make, are almost always the children's toys!

3. When and why did you start your business?
When I began making things for my family, I never even thought of starting a business. But about 5 years ago, I began sharing photos on Facebook of my family with the items I made them for birthdays or Christmas. I discovered a demand for handmade, and unique gifts. At first, I was only selling to family and friends, and I was just happy to help support my hobby, but it steadily grew, and friends encouraged me to start a business page on Facebook. Then I opened my Etsy shop in 2010.

4. What inspires you?
I am inspired by many different things, but mostly my own children! Creating imaginative toys for them to enjoy for years to come brings me great joy.

DIY 3D Art

This is the perfect art project for any special occasion! I made this for a special friend, Cody- mother to Lu&Ed, as a wedding gift. It was a pure joy to make. And I hope it is a piece they can display to celebrate their wedding date for years to come.

You will need:
 a shadow box (to frame your art), a piece of card stock that will fit your shadow box, a heart hole punch, colored paper- any color scheme you want for your hearts, a pencil, ruler, glue stick and a paper cutter

1. Cut out your hearts with your hole punch.

 2. Lightly score the heart down the middle and fold.

3. Measure and lightly draw the lines your hearts will be centered on.

 4. Lay out the pattern you want to use.

 5. Glue down the hearts on your line alternating sides and you go down. If you would like to include a special date as I did, you will want to trim the heart down a little further to include a colored border. Then glue it down flat in the bottom right corner.

6. Enjoy your art piece.

Friday Feature- Nature Junkie {Giveaway}

Happy Friday. It's Feature day! Today's feature is pretty amazing. My good friend Kristin, mother to Nature Junkie, creates high quality reusable products that will dress up your kitchen. Making an impact on the environment never looked better! And you really can not have enough unsponges! That is a fact! They are perfect for dishes, cleaning around the house, bath time, some people even throw them in the freezer for teethers. Reduce your waste with Nature Junkie and enter the giveaway below for a chance to a set of mystery unsponges!

1. Tell us a bit about yourself and your background.
My name is Kristin and I'm from the beautiful state of Michigan. I'm a kick ass wife and wonderful mother to a little boy with another one on the way. I love to garden, spend time in nature, and craft. Before I started Nature Junkie I worked retail my whole life. I think my experience there has helped me in developing my business and customer service. Oh, and I like CATS!

2. Tell us about your business. What do you make? What are you all about?
My business is Nature Junkie and I specialize in eco-friendly and unique kitchen accessories. Unpaper towels, Unsponges, Reusable Bowl Covers and MORE!

3. When and why did you start your business?
I started my business in June of 2012 when I was at home waiting for my son to arrive and pretty bored. I decided to treat myself to a sewing machine and taught myself how to sew. Once my son arrived I discovered how much actually goes into landfills. That's when I decided things needed to change. In November of 2012 I switched gears from offering baby items to kitchen reusables that were not only better for the environment but put money back into your wallet.

4. What inspires you?
Nature inspires me. <3
